Laura joined Baucom Claytor as a partner in 2024 after practicing law for over twenty years as the managing partner of Weaver Budd Law. She brings extensive experience to the firm, focusing her practice primarily on construction and business litigation. Additionally, her background includes extensive experience in appellate law and fiduciary litigation matters. She is also an arbitrator with the American Arbitrators Association.
Approaching each case with a focus on the individual client’s needs and desired outcomes, she personally works with each client to develop a strategy designed to effectively and efficiently address the relevant legal issues. Her work ethic and drive for excellence are reflected in her relationships with her clients, who return for repeated representation when further legal issues arise.
As an elected Member of the North Carolina House of Representatives representing District 103, she serves on several committees, including the judiciary committee, Education K-12 committee, the committee on internet technology, and the NC Board of Governors nominating committee.
Married to Chuck, she has three children: Caleb(20), Amelia(19), and Cooper(14). She is a member of Matthews United Methodist Church and enjoys reading, running, and traveling around the world in her “spare” time.
